A study in balance between form and function.

How can a single curve define both function and identity?

The project began with a series of material experiments, investigating how solid wood could be shaped through steam bending while maintaining both its structural integrity and visual elegance. These explorations gradually revealed the potential of a single curved element to perform multiple functions within one coherent composition.

Rather than treating a mirror, coat rack and tray as separate components, the design unites them through one continuous gesture. A bent oak shelf embraces the circular mirror, becoming both the defining visual element and the functional core of the object.

Final object

The circular mirror provides a calm and familiar centre, while the bent oak shelf introduces warmth, functionality and direction. Acting simultaneously as a shelf for everyday objects and as a place to hang coats or accessories, the wooden element transforms the mirror into an active part of the interior rather than a purely reflective surface.

A subtle shadow gap behind the mirror separates the object from the wall, creating a sense of depth and allowing the composition to appear as if it gently floats within the space.

The asymmetrical shelf interrupts the perfect symmetry of the circular mirror, giving the object a clear orientation while maintaining visual balance. Every functional element contributes to the overall composition, allowing Bojet to remain both intuitive and restrained.

Instead of expressing each function individually, the design relies on one continuous gesture that organises reflection, storage and hanging into a single coherent composition.
