Akse began with an interest in how structure can define freedom without becoming visually dominant.
Rather than designing another shelving unit, I started from one simple rule: a fixed vertical axis through which horizontal shelves can move from left to right. The axis remains constant, while every shelf can occupy a different position within that framework.
The result is not a static composition but a system that allows the arrangement of objects to evolve over time without losing its underlying order.
Final object
Akse is a shelving system built around a fixed vertical axis. Horizontal shelves slide along this axis and can be positioned to suit the objects they support.
The central column gives the object a clear architectural presence while the shelves introduce variation and asymmetry. Together they create a composition that feels ordered without becoming rigid.
The project proposes a shelving system that adapts to changing collections while remaining defined by one consistent structural principle.
